Boilerplate
Bell Path is timetabling and school-operations software built specifically for Australian primary schools. It plans the master timetable — including part-time teachers, job-shares, specialist rotations, and allocated planning time — then runs the school week from the same workspace: daily cover, yard duty rosters, wet-day plans, event timetables, and a staff portal. Bell Path is founder-led, built in Melbourne, and is being shaped with Victorian pilot schools.
Bell Path complements — it does not replace — school administration systems such as Compass, Sentral, and CASES21.
The founder story
Bell Path was started by James Hooke after watching Australian primary-school leadership teams spend school holidays hand-building timetables in spreadsheets — and then rebuilding them every time a part-timer changed days, a specialist moved, or planning-time entitlements shifted. Secondary-school timetabling tools never fitted the primary problem: planning time released by specialist lessons, job-share pairs, yard duty fairness, and the daily scramble of cover.
The product is deliberately primary-only. That focus — one school type, done properly — is the bet: the operational week of an Australian primary school deserves purpose-built software, not a secondary-school tool with the hard parts turned off.

Story angles we can speak to
- Why primary-school timetabling is a different (and harder) problem than secondary.
- The hidden cost of spreadsheet timetabling: leadership weekends, planning-time disputes, and unfair yard duty.
- Constraint-solver technology applied to the school week — what "the timetable is infeasible" really means.
- Building software with pilot schools instead of selling first and building later.
