Fortnightly timetables: Week A and Week B

Some schools run a subject once a fortnight because one specialist cannot reach every class every week, or hold a meeting every second week. A weekly timetable has no room for that, and squeezing it in is where planning time quietly goes missing. A fortnight gives the same week a Week A and a Week B.

1. 01In the Subjects step, set the subject to run every fortnight instead of every week. Meetings have the same choice in the Meetings step.
2. 02Tell Bell Path which calendar week is Week A, so every dated page knows which week it is showing.
3. 03Generate as usual. Bell Path places each fortnightly item in one week of the two and keeps every teacher’s planning time right in both weeks.

• The timetable grid shows one week of the fortnight at a time, and a lesson can be moved across weeks.
• A fortnightly meeting appears in Week A, which is also where its planning time is counted.
• Every export prints the fortnight: Week A pages, then Week B pages, each labelled.
• Daily cover, yard duty and the staffroom display all know which week of the fortnight a date falls in.
• A fortnightly timetable can be uploaded as well as generated, and the sample school shows one: a Library slot that alternates between two classes.
