Fixed entitlement, or derived from load
New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT and the Northern Territory publish a fixed weekly release entitlement for a full-time primary teacher. Bell Path applies that figure and prorates it for part-time staff.
Victoria and Tasmania instead cap face-to-face teaching. The entitlement is whatever remains once that cap is respected against your school’s actual weekly teaching minutes, so it changes when your session structure changes.
Part-time proration
Proration is against the sessions a teacher actually works, not a rounded day count. Where a teacher works half days, they receive a proportionate share rather than a full day’s worth.
Checking a number yourself
The free planning time calculator runs the same model against any school shape you describe, including every state side by side. It needs no account and nothing you type leaves your browser.
