Fixed entitlement, or derived from load
New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT and the Northern Territory publish a fixed weekly release entitlement for a full-time primary teacher. Bell Path applies that figure and prorates it for part-time staff.
Victoria and Tasmania instead cap face-to-face teaching hours. The entitlement is the teaching time in your week above that cap, so it changes when your bell times change.
Part-time teachers
Part-time entitlement is worked out from the sessions a teacher works, not a rounded day count. Where a teacher works half days, they receive the share those half days carry rather than a full day’s worth.
Checking a number yourself
The free planning time calculator uses the same calculation for any school you describe, and shows every state side by side. It needs no account, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
