Adding part-time teachers

How to enter a part-time teacher. Enter the days they work, not the fraction, and Bell Path works out the entitlement from the days.

Enter real days

On the staff step, set each part-time teacher’s working days directly. Do not convert them to a fraction first. Bell Path works out the entitlement from the sessions those days contain, which is more accurate than a fraction whenever your days are not all the same length.

  • A teacher working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday gets the entitlement those three days carry.
  • Half days work. A teacher available for part of a day receives the share that part of the day carries rather than being rounded up to a whole day.
  • If a teacher’s days vary week to week, enter the pattern they are rostered for and handle exceptions through daily cover.

The most common mistake

Rounding a two-and-a-half-day teacher up to three days, or down to two. It feels harmless, but it puts a small error in that person’s entitlement every week of the year. Over a term it adds up to a gap that is hard to explain.

Still stuck

Tell us where the step stopped making sense.

If the next action was not obvious, that is a flaw in Bell Path rather than in you, and knowing exactly where it happened is the most useful thing you can send us.
