Running the week

Covering an absence on the morning

Mark the absence, see who is genuinely available, and let the fairness record decide between equal options.

The flow

  1. 01Open daily cover and mark the teacher absent for the day or the sessions affected.
  2. 02Bell Path shows which slots need covering and who is actually free in each, drawn from the published timetable.
  3. 03Assign cover, or record an external relief teacher.
  4. 04Publish the day so staff see the change in their own view.

How fairness is counted

Cover taken is recorded against each staff member across the term, so when two people are equally available the decision is not left to memory. The record is visible, which matters when somebody asks why they seem to be covering more than everyone else.

Still stuck

Tell us where the step stopped making sense.

If the next action was not obvious, that is a flaw in Bell Path rather than in you, and knowing exactly where it happened is the most useful thing you can send us.
