What the relief teacher receives: the CRT brief

One text, one link. What opens straight away, what waits behind a six-digit code, how the absent teacher adds their class plan, and what the relief teacher can leave at the end of the day.

What arrives by text

When you record a relief teacher against an absence in Daily Cover, Bell Path can text them one link. The link opens the outline of the day on their phone with no account, no app and no code: the school and date, who they are covering, where to report and when, the key contacts, each session with its room, any yard duty, and the school map.

  1. 01Open Daily Cover for the date, add the absence, and record who is covering.
  2. 02Check the exact message Bell Path shows you, then send the text. The link in it is private to that booking and stops working if the booking is removed.
  3. 03If the plan changes after the text went out, Bell Path can text the relief teacher again to say the brief has changed. The message never carries student detail.

What the absent teacher adds

Bell Path emails the absent teacher a link for that date and class. They do not need to sign in. The link opens an editor with a card for each session already drawn from the timetable, or one blank page if they would rather type or paste the whole plan.

  • They can upload the plan they already have as a Word, PowerPoint or PDF file, or a photo from their phone.
  • They can attach one recorded voice message. Bell Path writes a transcript for it.
  • Everything autosaves as a private draft. The relief teacher sees nothing until the teacher presses Share with the CRT, and later changes need Share changes.
  • A teacher who is too unwell to prepare anything can say so, and the daily organiser is told without any blame attached.

What stays behind the code

The plain link can be forwarded, so it only ever carries the outline of the day. The class plan, any student support instructions the school has recorded, and the school’s generic laptop logins open after a six-digit code sent to the relief teacher’s mobile. They enter it once and that phone stays verified until the end of the booking day.

Lesson files on the school laptop

Links and files the teacher attached are grouped by session on a resource shelf. The relief teacher opens bellpath.com.au/go on the school laptop and types the short code shown on their brief. The code belongs to that booking and date, expires at the end of the day, and opens only the resources on that brief. Google Drive files keep their own sharing settings.

At the end of the day

The brief asks how the day went. The relief teacher can mark each session as planned, partly completed, changed course or not reached, add a short note, or record one voice message with a transcript. They can instead say they left a handwritten note, or leave the section alone. Bell Path sends no reminder, blocks nothing, and keeps no score. The absent teacher receives the return for their class.

If the next action was not obvious, that is a flaw in Bell Path rather than in you, and knowing exactly where it happened is the most useful thing you can send us.
